Natural Yeast Infection Remedies

~Natural solutions for yeast infection during pregnancy~

Find out why natural yeast infection remedies are better than medications during pregnancy to relieve symptoms and restore true balance to the body...

Yeast infections during pregnancy- or any time- are just yuck, second only maybe to the dreaded urinary tract infection. But symptoms, even the especially uncomfortable ones, are signals from the physical body that something is amiss.

And you have to look beyond the idea that some bacteria or other microorganism has taken hold of a certain part of the body and needs to be killed off with an antibiotic or other medicine- Because those microorganisms exist all over our bodies and the environment and usually don't cause any problems.

You have to ask why has this microorganism suddenly decided to jump into action and cause these symptoms?

The answer is that these microorganisms are our hardworking garbage men, multiplying and consuming whatever waste products or toxins that show up. From that perspective, we can look to natural remedies for yeast infections (or other types of infections) for help to stop making the body a hospitable place for "garbage men" to hang out in large numbers.

There is a big problem with using medications that kill off the yeast without addressing the underlying cause and helping to restore balance to the body. If you kill a patch of grass, unless you plant new grass there, you're going to get a hodgepodge of weeds.

It is the same with antibiotics. Leaving an open field in the body without deliberate regrowth and rebuilding leaves it vulnerable to other opportunistic bacteria. This is why I suspect women who have issues with yeast infections during pregnancy are also more likely to test GBS positive.

If you suspect candida overgrowth or have been diagnosed with a yeast infection, try the following natural yeast infection remedies:

  • Be sure you have read and are following the suggestions on this page about yeast infection prevention.
  • Severely restrict the use of grains and sugar: Even natural sugars such as those from honey, milk and fruits will feed yeast. Stick with small amounts of lower sugar fruits such as berries and green apples.

I recommend eliminating gluten-containing grains entirely. Instead of grains, eat starchy vegetables like yams and squash. Obtain the bulk of your carbohydrates from green vegetables. You'll effectively starve the yeast while making sure you and the baby get enough glucose for fuel.

  • Increase your probiotic intake Really emphasize probiotic-rich foods and take high-quality acidophilus supplements taken throughout the day.
  • Consider a local treatment Many have had success with inserting a probiotic like yogurt and/or an antifungal like garlic into the vaginal tract. Let stay overnight.

Caution: Natural yeast infection remedies will cause yeast die-off, which can make you feel tired or experience other uncomfortable symptoms. A healing reaction may also likely occur as your body starts to clean house and sweep out the yeast, especially if you have yeast overgrowth in other parts of the body as well.

This natural healing process is safer and preferred to the effects of medication, but you must not overwhelm your body with too much at once, especially during pregnancy.

If you do experience candida die off symptoms and start to feel poorly, make sure you are getting plenty of rest, good foods and water. It may also help to increase your non-yeast feeding carbohydrates.

Remember, true health and healing are slower, more gradual processes but ones that will benefit both you and the baby greatly over the long term. A healthy body is one where the microorganisms present behave in a way that creates a balanced ecosystem.

If in spite of trying these natural yeast infection remedies, you are experiencing chronic pregnancy yeast infections or have other health conditions that may be yeast-related, consider seeking further counsel from a holistic health professional. Bee Wilder's anti candida diet and website is a wonderful resource that has specific advice about pregnancy and babies.
