In the home environment, women feel secure and comfortable. This allows them to tune into their bodies as they labor and birth from an instinctive place. This home birth features the mother giving birth while standing. The baby is born in the amniotic sac, or "in the caul," which was rumored in ancient times to destine a baby for greatness. (Two of my three children were born this way.)
This video shows a woman giving birth in the squatting position. It also gives the partner's perspective as he describes his involvement.
Here is a home water birth that begins and ends with a birthday party! In early labor, the family celebrates the father's birthday, while later they celebrate their son's birth into the water.
Believe it or not, this video is a commercial from Spain advertising a brand of bed, but it was so beautiful and moving, I had to include it here. Not going to find one like this during the U.S. evening news!
